The answer is: Country of origin

In united states, all businesses entities are prohibited to discriminate their customers based on race or ethnicity. Asking country of origin may be seen as innocent on the surface, but can be interpreted as an effort to finding out information regarding the consumers’ ethnicity. Because of it, this action is disallowed.

In determining whether to issue a loan, banks are not allowed to ask about an applicant’s COUNTRY OF ORIGIN.
This is necessary in order to avoid discrimination based on country of origin when it comes to granting credit facilities to people. When it comes to getting credit from banks all people are expected to be treated equally.
